2008 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor for Bank 2 Sensor 2 on 2008 Cadillac XLR?
A: The procedure to replace a bank 2 sensor 2 heated Oxygen Sensor starts by confirming the correct orientation of bank 2 on the lh2 engine relative to the driver's seat position and understanding that sensor 2 is positioned as the second sensor toward the rearside after the engine. Apply p/n 5613695 anti-seize compound on a reused sensor threads since new service sensors come with this protective covering. Initiate the procedure by detaching the connector for bank 2 and sensor 1 at the fuel rail bracket then remove the Oxygen Sensor electrical connection from the harness. The process continues with separation of the bank 2 sensor 2 connector from the fuel rail bracket while also disconnecting its wiring connector from the harness. First disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) hose from the chassis bundle located at the dash front then position the hose aside before disconnecting the Brake Booster hose and check valve from the Brake Booster. Keeping the vehicle elevated you must remove the Oxygen Sensor wire harnesses from their retainer position at the engine back while indicating their initial route for future reassembly. The bank 2 sensor 2 Oxygen Sensor wire harness needs gentle removal from the engine compartment along with its connector to extract the sensor from the Exhaust Manifold. You must insert the bank 2 sensor 2 Oxygen Sensor into the Exhaust Manifold before tightening it to 42 n.m (31 lb ft). Pull the exhaust sensor electrical connector and wire harness from below until they reach the engine bay space then put the electrical connector into its designed retainer. After joining Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors with engine wiring harness connectors you should install both Oxygen Sensor electrical connector assemblies onto fuel rail brackets. The technicians should reattach the Brake Booster hose and check valve to the Brake Booster before attaching the evap hose to the chassis bundle found at the dash front area. After raising the vehicle once more attach the Oxygen Sensor wire harnesses to the engine-mounted retainer which must be placed in a safe position away from heat sources before releasing the support.
