• Q: How to Replace a Knock Sensor on 2008 Cadillac XLR?

  A: To replace Knock Sensor 1, take out the Intake Manifold first. Straighten the clip on the electrical connector, pull it out from the Knock Sensor (KS), and remove the bolt from the center of ks. Remove the ks from the engine block. Then, carefully clean the mating surfaces of the ks and that of the engine block, making the whole of the contact area of the ks contact directly onto the engine block. It is essential not to apply the washers, spring washers, or toothed washers when installing; by rectifying the causes, the dangers of poor torque could be prevented, and the screw would be tight enough to fasten. Mount the ks on the engine block and safe the ks bolt with 20 n.m (15 lb ft) of torque. Make sure ks wiring harness is properly mounted and connect the ks to the electrical connector . Finally, reinstall the Intake Manifold.
