• Q: How to replace Knock Sensor 1 on 2009 Cadillac XLR?

  A: The supercharger assembly needs removal before Knock Sensor 1 replacement. Use a wrench to disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor (KS) while loosening the bolt in the center of the KS. Separate the KS from its position in the engine block. Users should clean both sides of the KS and engine block before setting the full KS contact area onto a clean engine block surface. The use of washers and spring washers or toothed washers must be strictly prohibited during the installation process. When tightening the bolt apply the specified torque value. Securing the bolted KS assembly requires a torque of 20 Nm (15 lb ft) to the engine block. Install the KS wiring harness by using its retaining clips properly. To finish installation connect the electrical connector to the KS while reinstalling the supercharger assembly.
