How to service and repair the alternator on Chevrolet Astro?

Start by disconnecting the battery negative cable then removing the air cleaner assembly to access the Alternator. Start by removing the Drive Belt then unplug the regulator electrical wire. You must first disconnect the generator by unscrewing both front mounting bolts and the rear mounting bolt and the generator output (BAT) terminal nut. Position the generator onto the vehicle before loosely attaching its mounting bolts. Attach the generator output (BAT) lead and install the generator output (BAT) nut loosely before tightening the mounting bolts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and the generator output (BAT) terminal nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The process ends with reattachment of the battery negative cable after replacing the air cleaner and installing the Drive Belt and regulator electrical connector.
