How to replace the rear transfer case output shaft seal with a transfer case seal on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500?

First replace the rear transfer case shield if present before you proceed with removing the rear propeller shaft for transfer case output shaft seal replacement. Before sealing replacement you need to remove and examine the rear output shaft bushing for signs of damage by scoring or wear. You can use the transfer case rear bushing remover and installer tool (J 45380) to remove the rear output shaft bushing by installing its finger section before the bushing and then using the tube and forcing screw to install it. The wrench on the forcing screw removes the bushing. The installation process requires the transfer case rear bushing remover and installer (J 45380) to position the bushing and tool toward the case before hammering it into place with the drain hole of the rear output shaft seal aimed downward toward the ground. You should finish the procedure by using the seal installer (J 37668-A) to apply a new front output shaft seal while reinstalling the rear propeller shaft followed by checking and possibly top-off the fluid level then reinstalling the transfer case shield if present.
