Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: What tools are required to replace the front inner axle wheel bearing on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500?
A: Replacement of front drive axle inner axle seals and bearings requires these specific tools: the required tools for front drive axle inner axle seal or bearing replacement include j 8092 universal driver handle (J 8092), j 2619-01 slide hammer (J 2619-01), j 29369-1 bushing and bearing remover (J 29369-1), j 29369-2 bushing and bearing remover (2-3 inch) (J 29369-2), j 36609 axle tube bearing installer (J 36609) and j 45225 axle seal installer (J 45225). J 8092 universal driver handle (J 8092), j 2619-01 slide hammer (J 2619-01), j 29369-1 bushing and bearing remover (J 29369-1), j 29369-2 bushing and bearing remover (2-3 inch) (J 29369-2), j 36609 axle tube bearing installer (J 36609), and j 45225 axle seal installer (J 45225). Climb the vehicle and drain the Differential carrier assembly first. Wrench out the right side seal or bearing after removing both the inner Axle Shaft and Differential carrier case housing together with the Clutch Fork assembly. Place the inner Axle Shaft housing inside a vise while using clamps exclusively on the mounting flange. When removing the inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing use the specified bushing and bearing remover models j 29369-1 or j 29369-2 positioned behind the seal followed by attaching the slide hammer j 2619-01. To replace only the left side seal begin by marking the inner Axle Shaft-wheel drive shaft alignment and then detach the wheel drive shaft and extract the Axle Shaft with a hammer and brass drift followed by a suitable removal tool for the seal. Both left-side seal and bearing installations require Differential carrier assembly removal and vise-support for following the removal steps again. For installation you need the axle tube bearing installer (J 36609) with the universal driver handle (J 8092) for the right side bearing and new Axle Shaft seal installation alongside the axle seal installer (J 45225) using the universal driver handle (J 8092). Guide the inner Axle Shaft into position while tapping it gently before putting together the inner shaft structures with the Clutch Fork components and mounting the assembly onto the Differential case. Repeat the left side bearing and seal installation if you removed those components previously. Reposition the front Differential carrier assembly after checking the inner Axle Shaft seating then add proper fluid before placing the vehicle on its wheels.
