    Q:
How to replace the wheel bearing and hub on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by lifting the vehicle and taking off its tire and wheel. Take out the brake rotor when you disconnect the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle. Pull the axle nut dust cover and take out the cotter pin and wheel drive shaft nut retainer before you remove the wheel drive shaft retainer nut. You can disconnect the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly by using the axle remover tool (J 45859) on both ends of the wheel drive shaft. To install the new Wheel Hub and bearing system embed it into the vehicle then tighten the retaining bolts to 140 nm strength. Add the wheel drive shaft retaining nut and set torque to 250 nm. Secure its components such as the retainer and cotter pin to the nut. Place the dust cap in position then link the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle and replace the brake rotor, tire and wheel before lowering the vehicle.

    Q:
How to service and repair the front wheel bearing on GMC Sierra 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process to service or repair front wheel bearings starts by hoisting your vehicle. First remove the tire together with the wheel then take off the rotor. Detach the Wheel Speed Sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt from the Steering Knuckle before removing the wheel drive shaft nut retaining cover. A brand-new nut needs to be used when you install the wheel drive shaft. The procedure requires removal of the wheel drive shaft assembly retaining nut and its accompanying washer. Start by using the axle remover (J 45859) to free the wheel drive shaft from the Wheel Hub and bearing. Remove first the 15-series bearing mounting bolts before taking out the 25/35 series mounting bolts. The vehicle receives a Wheel Hub separation followed by bearing extraction alongside splash shield extraction and an o-ring seal removal from the Steering Knuckle bore that operates through the 25/35 series. Test the o-ring seal by checking for nicks, cuts and dryness, brittleness and compression set. Replace the o-ring if damage occurs. Suspension professionals need to remove all contaminants and corrosion from the Steering Knuckle bore and the hub and bearing assembly before they lubricate the knuckle bore with Wheel Bearing grease or another equivalent product. Tighten the Wheel Speed Sensor mounting bolt to the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly until it reaches 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Next install the o-ring to the Steering Knuckle, 25/35 series. After completing the Wheel Hub and bearing and splash shield installation on the vehicle, proceed to install the Wheel Hub and bearing and splash shield on the vehicle, 15 series. Both 15 series and 25/35 series Wheel Hub and bearing mounting bolts require a torque setting of 180 nm (133 ft. Lbs.) to fasten the Wheel Hub to the knuckle. Use nut along with washer to secure the wheel drive shaft assembly to Wheel Hub and bearing. Torque the nut to 240 nm (177 ft. Lbs.) before installing the Wheel Speed Sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt to Steering Knuckle then tighten brake hose clip bolt to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Finish setup by adding the rotor then installing tire and wheel and finally lowering the vehicle down.
