The first step for Camshaft gear replacement is to disconnect the negative battery cable followed by Timing Belt removal and bolted-on engine cover and Timing Belt. You must first disconnect the ignition wires attached to spark plugs as well as disconnecting crankcase ventilation tubes from valve cover and the Camshaft position (CMP) sensor. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the valve cover nuts followed by washers while removing the valve cover together with the Valve Cover Gasket with great caution to protect the Camshaft lobes and bearing surfaces from damage. Secure the intake Camshaft and then unscrew both the intake Camshaft gear bolt followed by the intake Camshaft gear.
