Raising and supporting the vehicle should be the first step when changing the back up lamp switch. Disconnect the back up lamp switch electrical connector followed by removal of the switch. The new back up lamp switch should be installed with attention to its pre-installed thread sealant on the threads because it needs to be tightened to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.). Torque the new component to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.). Potential owners should connect the back up lamp switch electrical connector before lowering the vehicle.
