To handle wheel drive shafts with low profile boot clamps remove both the outer boot clamp and inner boot clamp from the CV joint boot before removing the CV joint boot from the CV joint housing . When dealing with shafts featuring ear type boot clamps you need to first eliminate the inner boot clamp before you start removing the CV joint boot from CV joint housing . A hammer and wood block function to separate the CV joint from the wheel drive shaft. After this J 8059 pliers extract the retaining ring from the wheel drive shaft for CV joint boot removal. To complete the boot clamp installation use CH 48894 pliers for closing then perform 4 to 5 circular motions on the CV joint for lubricant distribution before removing the wheel drive shaft from the vise to reinstall.
