Start by removing the lower control arms before performing a crossmember replacement. The installation requires j 41044 engine support adapters and j 42451 engine support adapter kit and j 28467-b universal support fixture and j 36462-a engine support adapter for engine lifting support. Afterward remove both the steering gear and
Engine Mounts. Drain the brake pipe clip bolt located on the crossmember's passenger position then remove the brake pipe clip bolt on the driver side. Disengage the wheel speed sensor electrical connector then remove the harness clip and all harness clips from the crossmember. After removing the crossmember bolts it will be possible to pull the brake pipes off the crossmember so you can extract the crossmember from the vehicle. To install replace the crossmember into position within the vehicle then attach the brake pipes to it. Put the crossmember bolts in place then tighten all lower crossmember bolts to 125 n.m (92 lb ft) while upper crossmember bolts require 145 n.m (107 lb ft) torque. The process requires reattaching harness clips to the crossmember while connecting the wheel speed sensor electrical connector , followed by installation of the harness clip from that crossmember . Begin by installing the brake pipe clip bolt at the driver side of the crossmember then torque it to 13 n.m (115 lb in). Next install the brake pipe clip bolt at the passenger side of the crossmember while torquing it to 13 n.m (115 lb in). Reinstall the steering gear and engine mounts before removing components j 41044 j 42451 j 28467-b and j 36462-a and finishing with lower Control Arm installation.
