Most of the time, you don't need to center the Steering Angle Sensor, but you should do it after replacing the steering gear,
Steering Column, Steering Angle Sensor, intermediate shaft, abs controller, or if the car has been in a collision or otherwise physically damaged. The automated center procedure requires a scan tool, so you should first straighten the front wheels with the Steering Wheel and put the transmission in park. You should now put the scan tool onto the data link connector (DLC) and set the ignition to on without cranking the engine. On the scan tool, select the chassis/ebcm control system, vses, special function, and steering pos. Sensor calibration stages. Complete the auto-centering by following the instructions on the scan tool: first, turn the Steering Wheel left 5 degrees, then right 5 degrees, then center it. Make sure to clear out any set dtcs and conduct the diagnostic system check so you know there are no pending dtcs. The process to center the Steering Angle Sensor is completed.
