You must drain the cooling system first when replacing the Water Pump for 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines. First take off the air filter setup along with both
Fan Clutch and the
Drive Belt. Shift the inlet hose clamp position to remove the inlet hose from the Water Pump's side also disconnect the outlet hose and heater inlet hose. Right after uninstalling Water Pump bolts put the Water Pump assembly and gaskets in the trash for disposal. Before putting in the new Water Pump place the gasket surfaces on proper oil-free surfaces during setup. Use a 15 nm torque wrench to tighten the Water Pump bolts and upgrade them to 30 nm torque. Secure the heater inlet hose with its clamp first before installing the outlet hose then heater inlet hose clamps. Install the accessory Drive Belt then put back the Fan Blade, clutch assembly, and air cleaner unit in place after filling the cooling system.
