Chevrolet Express 2500 Ball Joint Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the lower control arm ball joint on Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: Before starting work on the lower Control Arm Ball Joint you need to raise and support your vehicle. Take out both lower Control Arm and the wheel before removing the tire from the vehicle. Place the Control Arm in the bench vice before using a chisel to remove the 4 metal pieces from the Ball Joint body. Put the Ball Joint into the press to take it out of the lower Control Arm. You can put in the new Ball Joint when the outer flange fits firmly into position. Put the lower Control Arm into a vise and use a Ball Joint as reference to install four crimps using a punch on the new joint. Install the lower Control Arm first then put the tire and wheel back on and end by lowering the vehicle. Afterward, check the wheel alignment.
