Chevrolet Express 3500 ABS Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on Chevrolet Express 3500?
A: Vehicle service begins with disconnecting the negative cable then securing the vehicle for work. Wipe away all contamination from ABS Control Module surroundings before cleaning the surrounding area which will be free of abs component contaminants. The splash shield needs to be removed from cutaway vehicles. Use a screwdriver to operate the mounting screws attached to the ABS Control Module that holds it to the bpmv while using a wrench to detach the electrical connectors from the ABS Control Module. Use some light force to extract the ABS Control Module from its bpmv housing before cleaning the contact surfaces between ABS Control Module and bpmv with a clean cloth. During new ABS Control Module installation on the bpmv keep mating surfaces and ABS Control Module gasket free from rtv and all other sealants. Technicians should install screws to the ABS Control Module unit while tightening them to 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) according to an x-pattern. For cutaway vehicles owners should reinstall the splash shield by tightening its bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). At the same time, reconnect electrical connectors to the ABS Control Module. The procedure requires lowering the vehicle and attaching the negative Battery Cable followed by tire calibration through the scan tool tire size calibration feature and system functionality verification.
