Chevrolet Lumina Control Arm is one of the most significant parts to amass the trust and faith of the automobile enthusiasts that they had in Chevrolet Lumina Production dividing through the timeline of 1989-2013. Being a connecting component between the car's frame and its wheels, the Control Arm plays an important role in suspension system's vertical movement and adjusts car handling to different tow beam roads' conditions. The Chevrolet Lumina Control Arm is rather diverse as it fits not only the 1996 Lumina but also other models of the car belonging to different generations. For instance, the Control Arm entails the use of cast iron and aluminum materials which provide strength and at the same time reducing the overall weight of the vehicle. This transition from the utilisation of stamped steel arms, which are prone to rusting, testifies to the Chevrolet desire of long-lasting and safe automobiles. Also offered are performance-oriented Control Arms, created for higher stresses and capable of accommodating change-outs so the Chevrolet Lumina retains its moniker of the stable, high-characteristic car. Therefore, the Control Arm goes beyond a mere part as it serves the top notch purpose of maintaining the safety features of the Chevrolet Lumina by regulating the wheel positioning and suspension feedback. Being able to design control arms that are both new and strong is a difficult task, but is evidently something that Chevrolet takes very seriously and is a true indication of how much the brand cares about their products. All in all, the Chevrolet Lumina Control Arm is an intricate part that stands as a cosmetic hall mark as well as a functional component in enhancing the longevity and functionality of any car model.

Chevrolet Lumina Control Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the control arm on Chevrolet Lumina?
    A:
To service and repairing the Control Arm, the vehicle should be raised and adequately supported. Lower the Control Arm insulator clamp bolts by removing the tire and wheel assembly as well as the stabilizer shaft. Next, disconnect the lower Ball Joint cotter pin and nut, and separate the Ball Joint from the lower Control Arm using the tie rod puller/ball joint remover (J 35917). Write down the location of the bolt in order to align it then remove the nuts and bolts joining the lower Control Arm and the frame then remove the lower Control Arm. To install, position lower arm control and put the lower arm control bolts through the front frame. Lift the lower Control Arm to align the next slot of the pin with the cotter pin hole on the Ball Joint stud without exceeding 60 degrees(1 flat) of tightening while tightening the Ball Joint nut, and do not loosen nut while installing. Install the Ball Joint and the Ball Joint stud nut to the lower Control Arm, tightening the lower Control Arm-to-frame nuts to a torque setting of 70nm (52ft. Lbs.). As well as the lower Ball Joint nut tightening to a torque setting of 85nm (63ft lbs.). Replace a new cotter pin and the stabilizer shaft to the lower Control Arm insulator clamp and fasten the stabilizer shaft bushing clamp bolts to a 48nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle and reinstall the tire and wheel assembly.
