Start by taking off the outer tie rod, and then remove the hex jam nut from the inner tie rod assembly . Next, remove the tie rod end clamp from Rack and Pinion Boot and use side cutters to remove boot clamp from Rack and Pinion Boot, disposing of the boot clamp. Before pulling out the breather tube or Rack and Pinion Boot , mark the breather tube's position on the gear assembly. Go ahead and take off the rack and pinon boot and the breather tube . To assemble, replace a boot clamp with a new one onto the Rack and Pinion Boot. Prior putting in the Rack and Pinion Boot, grease the inner tie rod assembly and the Rack And Pinion gear assembly. Mount the Rack and Pinion Boot onto the inner tie rod assembly, aligning the breather tube with the mark which was left when taking off and the molded nipple of Rack and Pinion Boot. Make sure the Rack and Pinion Boot is fitted into the groove of the gear assembly and does not twist or pucker.
