Chevrolet Malibu Sway Bar Link Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front sway bar link on Chevrolet Malibu?
A: You should start by lifting and supporting the vehicle to change the Sway Bar Link. The next step requires tire and wheel component removal. Remove all material debris from around the Sway Bar Link bolt threads before starting with replacement tasks. Use the appropriate wrench of the right size to grasp the sway bar bolt thus removing the sway bar nut. First remove the insulator and washer from the Sway Bar Link bolt and then detach the bolt with the insulator and washer. The installation process requires the removal of both insulators and also the spacer. During installation place the washer and insulator onto the Sway Bar Link bolt while verifying that the insulators fit correctly within the sway bar then the lower Control Arm. Install the insulators and spacer on the sway bar between the lower Control Arm while using the sway bar bolt to position them when installing. Fasten the Sway Bar Link bolt with its washer and insulator before installing the insulator together with its washer. Fasten the Sway Bar Link nut to enable a torque of 23 n.m (17 lb ft). After installing the tire and wheel assembly it is necessary to remove the support before lowering the vehicle.
