The first step to servicing the transmission position switch/sensor requires you to disconnect the negative
Battery Cable. You should disconnect the engine wiring harness pnp switch electrical connector and free the pnp switch harness from its retaining clamps. Move 1 bolt and the pnp switch out of the transaxle. Utillize a standard flat-bladed screwdriver to turn the pnp switch both clockwise and counterclockwise until hearing two clicks while the transaxle lever remains in the n position. Reattach the pnp switch to the transaxle by tightening its bolt to 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the pnp switch harness into the retaining clamps while connecting the pnp switch electrical connector at the engine wiring harness. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable as your last step. After the installation work completes apply the parking brake while blocking the vehicle's wheels. Following the manual selection to the p mode engage the Ignition Switch to start to confirm that the
Starter motor functions properly. Then turn off the engine while maintaining the Ignition Switch in position on. First shift the selector lever into n position while leaving the ignition at start to ensure the Starter motor operates correctly. You should verify that the Starter motor won't start when the gear selector points toward d or 2 or l or r.
