Chevrolet Metro Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the shock absorber on Chevrolet Metro?
A: Start by removing the 3 upper strut support nuts from the strut tower followed by vehicle lifting and support application. After tire removal place the vehicle on a floor jack to support the Control Arm. You must first eliminate the bolt and sensor harness from the strut if your vehicle contains abs technology. Separate the e-ring securing brake hose to the strut bracket by removing it then detach the brake hose from the strut support. To start installation, the technician removes strut bolts and nuts from both the knuckle assembly followed by extracting the strut assembly out of the vehicle body. After returning the strut assembly into the vehicle position, lock the upper strut support nuts at 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs. Torque). Position the vehicle again before installing the strut-to-knuckle hardware with 80 nm of torque (59 ft. Lbs.). During installation handle brake hoses gently while making sure the e-ring lies completely inside the hose bracket aperture. Install the strut bracket side of the brake hose then lock it into place with the e-ring. Reconnect the wheel speed sensor harness to the strut while attaching the wheel speed sensor to the strut through a bolt. Secure this connection with 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. After removing the floor jack replace the tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle.
