Chevrolet Prizm Parking Brake Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the parking brake cable on Chevrolet Prizm?
A: Service and repair work on the Parking Brake Cable requires starting with lever removal before raising and supporting the vehicle. Start with removing the rear tire assembly and wheel before proceeding to detach the Brake Shoes. The maintenance of Parking Brake Cable starts with removing the backing plate's two bolts and cable and continuing with intermediate pipe and catalytic converter heat shield removal. The service requires you to remove one retainer and two clamps together with the right cable from the equalizer followed by identical steps for the left cable. Start installation by mounting the equalizer cable after removing it from the system. Connect one retainer together with two clamps and the right cable to the equalizer while putting the cable on the left side according to the yellow id tape. Begin by installing a retainer along with two clamps and a left cable which comes from the equalizer at the cable cross. The next procedure involves installing the intermediate pipe while also returning the catalytic converter heat shield into position. Two bolts should secure the cables onto the backing plate before Brake Shoe installation. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies on the vehicle before lowering it to finish with the installation of the lever.
