How to replace the console shift linkage boot on Chevrolet Prizm?

Beginning the console shift boot replacement requires the manual transaxle control lever knob to be turned counterclockwise. The next step is to raise the manual transaxle control lever boot which will separate it from the manual transaxle control lever boot retainer. Complete boot retainer removal requires you to release the two retaining tabs on the front floor consoles. Follow this installation procedure: connect the manual transaxle control lever boot to the manual transaxle lever boot retainer before placing the boot and retainer assembly back onto the front floor consoles until retaining tabs reach full engagement. Turn the knob of the manual transaxle control lever clockwise to lock it onto the control lever itself.
