    Setting the replacement odometer for the speedometer assembly to the original odometer's distance is essential; however if odometer setting at the previous reading is not practical then the new odometer must start at zero and a label must describe the original reading and the time of replacement on the driver's side door. Start by removing the instrument cluster retainer then secure the speedometer needle because the speedometer shaft lacks a correct placement detent or flat spot. Start by disconnecting the speedometer from its instrument cluster case using the five attached screws before extracting the speedometer from inside the case. After placing the speedometer inside the instrument cluster case use the 5 screws for closure followed by instrument cluster retainer reinstallation.
