Chevrolet S10 Differential Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: What tools are required to service and repair the pinion bearing and replace the differential side bearings in the differential bearing on Chevrolet S10?
A: The necessary tools for Pinion Bearing service and Differential side bearing replacement include j8092 universal driver handle (J8092), j21784 side bearing installer (J21784), j22888-d side bearing remover kit (J22888-D), j22912-01 split-plate bearing puller (J22912-01) and j25299 side bearing installer (J25299). You should start by removing the Differential assembly then place it into a vise for security. Remove Differential side bearings by using either j8107-2 (7.6 inch axle) or j8107-4 (8.6 inch axle) together with j22888-20a. Move the Differential assembly from the vise position when the removal process completes. The j8107-2 or j8107-4 presents direct bearing installation protection to the Differential case from its opposite side. Install the Differential case bearing with both the j25299 (7.6 inch axle) and its mating part j21784 (8.6 inch axle) together with the j8092. Drive the bearing onto the case by applying the j25299 or the j21784 and j8092 tools before the Differential assembly can be rebased.
