Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic Drive Belt Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the drive belt on Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic?
A: You need to begin by attaching a 3/8 inch drive breaker bar to the drive belt tensioner arm and turn it counterclockwise to decrease belt tension. Vehicle owners should remove the belt from both pulleys and the drive belt tensioner when not using air conditioning systems. Remove the breaker bar as you slow down the process of tension release on the drive belt tensioner. Check the belt surfaces of all pulleys after cleaning them. You should first direct the belt to run past all pulleys except the flat idler. After that, position the 3/8 inch drive breaker bar onto the drive belt tensioner arm before rotating the tensioner counterclockwise to free belt tension. The belt installation process requires that you put the belt under the flat idler pulley when your car has A/C but you should position the belt in front of the pulleys and drive belt tensioner if it does not have A/C. After controlling the tension on the belt tensioner remove the breaker bar. Then check that the drive belt shows proper installation while maintaining alignment between the pulleys.
