To remove the engine cover, disassemble the pump (water), crankshaft balancer, and
Oil Pan, and slide the bolts and shield out of the way. The crankshaf position (CKP) sensor has to be disconnected first through its electrical connector, then remove the ckp sensor bolt and sensor then dispose of the ckp sensor o-ring seal. Secondly, take off the front cover bolts, then discard the composite front cover, while making sure to clean all surfaces used for seals. Install a new front cover and then install the front cover bolt tighten to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) do not return to the original ckp sensor o-ring seal,; rather, lubricate a new ckp sensor o-ring seal with clean engine oil and attach it on the ckp sensor. During the installation of the ckp sensor, make sure that it is inserted completely prior to threading the bolt to a torque of 8 nm (71 inch lbs). Reconnect the ckp sensor electrical connector, and reinstall the engine shield and bolts with 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) of torque. Lastly, re-install the Oil Pan, crankshaft balancer, and
Water Pump.
