Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Silverado 2500?
    A:
To replace the Coolant Reservoir, the first step is the draining of the cooling system and removing the air cleaner assembly. Unplug the coolant level sensor electrical connector and remove the Coolant Reservoir overflow hose. Reposition the Coolant Reservoir inlet hoses and the outlet hose clamps and remove them if the vehicle has 4.3 l, 4.8 l, 5.3 l, 6.0 l, or 8.1 l engine. Then, relocate the inlet hose clamp and manage to get the inlet hose out, and follow the same procedure with the outlet hose and its clamp. Remove the bolt and nut clamping down the Coolant Reservoir, and remove the Coolant Reservoir itself. To install, reinstall the Coolant Reservoir to its position, install the bolt and tighten it to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.), then the nut, which is also tightened to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). The first thing to do is reattach the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose and its clamp, the inlet hose and the clamp as well. Connect the coolant level sensor electrical connector, put the Coolant Reservoir overflow hose and finally assemble the air cleaner assembly before filling the cooling system.
