Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump on 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L engines on Chevrolet Silverado 2500?
A: You need to empty your cooling system before starting work on 4.8l 5.3l and 6.0l water pumps. Take both air cleaner outlet clamps loose from their positions on the Throttle Body and maf sensor before removing the outlet duct. Take off the engine sight shield and radiator vent opening hose when needed from their clips. Move the inlet hose clamp from its position at the Water Pump before extracting the inlet hose and next removing the Fan Blade and accessory Drive Belt. Move the outlet hose clamp and take off the outlet hose along with the surge tank outlet hose clamp and surge tank outlet hose from the Water Pump. Secure the heater inlet hose clamp to an improved position then extract both the heater inlet hose and Water Pump bolts with their gaskets while throwing away the gaskets. Install new gaskets on the Water Pump before placing it onto clean gasket surfaces. Fasten the Water Pump bolts at first to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) and then to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Relay the heater inlet hose under its clamp before connecting the surge tank outlet hose and its clamp with the outlet hose using its clamp and attaching the accessory Drive Belt. Begin with engine vent inlet hose installation into radiator hose clips and set the inlet hose with its clamp. Secrete the Fan Blade onto its hub before adding the outlet hose and its clamp to the intake hose. Also set the engine sight shield if needed and line the arrow on the Throttle Body end of the duct with the Throttle Body stud to add the air cleaner outlet duct. Use the radiator inlet hose clip to secure its end at the outlet duct before you adjust the air cleaner outlet clamps to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) while mounting them to the Throttle Body and maf/iat sensor.
