First check the fluid level inside the brake master cylinder reservoir before starting front Brake Caliper Bracket replacement. The fluid level requires no adjustment when measured at the midway point but requires reduction to mean level if it exceeds this measurement. Compresse the caliper pistons through the use of two large c-clamps positioned against the outboard pad on the back of the caliper housing. Tighten the clamps until all pistons are fully extended. After supporting the caliper with heavy mechanic's wire you must remove the brake caliper bolts and
Brake Pads and anti-rattle clips and Brake Caliper Bracket bolts to remove the Brake Caliper Bracket . Residue should be cleaned off both from inside Brake Caliper Bracket ends and from mounting area surface and threads. To install the Brake Caliper Bracket set it back in position after using denatured alcohol to clean bolt threads and threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) is applied to the threads. After tightening the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts to 300 nm (221 ft. Lbs.), install the anti-rattle clips and brake pads while moving them to meet the rotor. After tightening brake caliper bolts to 108 nm (80 ft. Lbs.), reinstall the wheel and tire assembly and perform the following brake pedal routine: keep the engine off while pressing the pedal to about 2/3 of its capacity before a gradual pedal release. Repetitions of a 15-second pedal application followed by another 15-second period help position the caliper pistons and pads along with adequate fluid level maintenance in the reservoir when needed.
