    Q:
How to replace the front brake caliper bracket on GMC Sierra 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the front Brake Caliper Bracket check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid. Regular fluid level means no removal needed but excess fluid requires lowering to the center point. Feed the wheel set aside and push brake caliper pistons back with two large c-clamps pressed against the housing from behind the inboard pad until all pistons are fully compressed. Hold the caliper with mechanics wire and keep the hydraulic brake hose connected during the removal of caliper bolts, brake pads, anti-rattle clips, Brake Caliper Bracket bolts and finally the Brake Caliper Bracket . Wipe away residue after thoroughly cleaning the surface of both Brake Caliper Bracket inner ends and assembly mounting brackets. Re-attach the Brake Caliper Bracket in its rightful position after cleaning every bolt-thread surface with denatured alcohol and covering threads with threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488). Install the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts at 300 nm torque then add the anti-rattle clips and brake pads while pressing them against the rotor surface. Place the brake caliper bolts into place and tighten them to 108 nm (80 foot pounds). Install the tire and wheel after this step. Push the brake pedal slowly to two-thirds of its range while the engine is off then let go as part of a braking setup process to properly park the pistons and pads into position. Close up the master cylinder reservoir by pouring clean brake fluid to match the required fluid level.
