Q: How to service and repair the wheel bearing with rear wheel steering on Chevrolet Silverado 3500?
A:
To work on the Wheel Bearing with rear wheel steering you need to lift the vehicle properly then begin your repairs. Take off the wheel and tire then the brake rotor. You must first remove the dust cover from underneath the axle nut while also taking out both the pin and retainer fixed to the wheel drive shaft. Unscrew both the wheel drive shaft retaining nut and Wheel Hub and bearing retaining bolts now. Install the axle remover j 45859 between Wheel Hub and bearing then between wheel drive shaft to disconnect these components from each other before removing Wheel Hub and bearing from vehicle. Position the Wheel Hub and bearing unit onto the vehicle then fasten its retaining bolts with correct torque of 180 nm. Firms the wheel drive shaft retaining nut until it reaches 250 nm (184 ft. Lbs.) torque level then mounts the retaining components onto the wheel shaft nut. Place the dust cap first and add the brake rotor, tire, wheel before lowering the vehicle.
