You should drain all cooling system fluid when replacing 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l water pumps. Disconnect the air duct clamps at the base of the
Throttle Body and the maf/iat sensor before unplugging the vacuum hose clip and air duct from the radiator and Water Pump. Take away the vision shield if required. Takedown the radiator vent inlet hose assembly from its radiator hose clips and shift the inlet hose clamp to the Water Pump location before extracting the inlet hose. When needed remove the Fan Blade first before taking off the accessory
Drive Belt. Shift the outlet hose clamp before taking the hose out and do similar adjustments to the surge tank outlet hose hose clamp before removing the hose. Unclamp the heater inlet hose from its place. After removing the bolts from the Water Pump area you should take out the Water Pump while discarding the gaskets. To install the Water Pump properly apply new gaskets to surfaces that need them and mount them without oil or foreign material. Begin by fitting the Water Pump bolts into place but only apply 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) torque before tightening them to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Position back the heater inlet hose with its clamp while connecting the surge tank outlet hose with its clamp followed by the outlet hose and its clamp and the accessory Drive Belt. Reinstall the Fan Blade and the inlet hose using its clamp when necessary. Rejoin the engine vent hose to radiator connections while placing back the engine viewing part when required. Fit the Throttle Body end of the duct to the Throttle Body stud and secure it with the air cleaner outlet. After fitting the outlet duct hose clip to the radiator inlet position secure the air cleaner outlet duct clamps to 4 nm at both the Throttle Body and maf/iat sensor points. Fill the cooling system next.
