To fix the front Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) on 4 wheel drive vehicles start by lifting and holding the vehicle followed by taking off the tire and wheel. Proceed by removing the brake rotor according to model 1500. Unscrewing the mounting bolt disconnects the wss cable first from the knuckle then the upper
Control Arm and frame. Afterwards pull away the wss electrical connector and remove the mounting bolt. Remove the speed sensor from the bore without using tools to protect against damaging the sensor body. Before beginning installation you need to plug the wss bore on the hub. Clean the wss contact surface on the hub with wire brush or equivalent and then apply a thin layer of wheel bearing lubricant to both the hub and sensor o-ring. Insert the wss correctly onto its bearing assembly location before you install its bolt and tighten it to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Install mounting clips again to knuckle, upper Control Arm joints, and frame holder then attach wss wire connector. Put on the brake rotor the same way as 1500-series cars before resting the tire and wheel on their position. Run the system diagnostic test at vehicle level.
