Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Replace the Rear (Jounce) Brake Line on Chevrolet Silverado 3500?
A: First lift the car before cleaning all dirt and foreign items from the brake line fittings and hose. Apply a rubber seal to the brake pipe fitting to stop brake fluid from leaking and getting contaminated. Put a back up wrench on both pieces while you detach the brake hose pipe fitting from the brake system and cover the pipe fitting end. To remove the jounce hose from its bracket just unclip the brake hose holder and get the hose free from the mount. After plugging the exposed brake pipe ends seal the blocked brake pipe fitting on the junction block of the rear axle. One should first remove the axle junction block retaining bolt and then disconnect the brake hose from the vehicle. Start by attaching the brake hose to its mounting position before fixing the junction block retaining bolt to the axle at 22 Nm torque. Join the rear brake pipes with the junction block on the axle while tightening the connection to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Put the brake hose in place without allowing it to twist against suspension elements or touch the bracket. Fix the jounce hose clip in place before you disconnect the rubber cover and join the brake hose port to the brake pipe housing while holding the back up wrench tight. Keep the bracket and pipe straight while torquing the port nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Make sure the brake hose stays away from suspension parts when you install it into the bracket. Complete the process by draining fluid from the hydraulic brakes before putting the vehicle down.
