    Q:
How to Replace a Rear Brake Line on a Caliper on GMC Sierra 1500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
To repair the rear brake hose start with lifting the vehicle and placing supports under it. Then take off the wheel and tire unit. Clear the brake hose and brake pipe connectors of soil before placing rubber covers over the open pipe ends to stop fluid leakage and contamination. You should use a back up wrench at the hose end to detach the brake pipe from the hose assembly and put a cap on the fitting. Detach the brake hose retaining clip from its bracket to take out the brake hose from its position. Take out the brake caliper bolt from the caliper to remove it. Then disconnect the brake hose from the unit and dispose of the 2 copper brake hose gaskets. Secure 2 fresh copper gaskets to the brake hose and fasten it with the brake hose bolt. Affix the brake hose to the caliper bolt along with its 2 new washers while working the bolt to 40nm tension (30ftlbs torque). Place the brake hose correctly into the bracket and fasten it with the retaining clip. Connect the brake hose fitting end to the brake pipe fitting nut using a back up wrench and tighten it to 25 nm torque without bending the bracket or pipe. Drain hydraulic brake fluid and place the tire wheels on then verify suspension parts do not hit the hose during vehicle descent. If contact exists remove the hose after solving the problem.
