Q: How to replace the front brake line on Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: Before you replace the front brake hose, you will need to raise and support the vehicle, then you remove the tire and wheel assembly. Clean all dirt from brake hose and brake pipe fittings to install rubber cap, while plugging the open end of the brake pipe fitting to avoid fluid leakage and contamination. Make use of a back up wrench on the hose fitting where the brake pipe fitting is disconnected from the brake hose, and cap the fitting end. Unclipping the brake hose retaining clip from the hose mounting bracket, followed by brake hose bolt and bracket from the upper Control Arm, and Steering Knuckle. Lastly, disconnect the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper and pull out the brake hose and dispose of the 2 copper brake hose gaskets. For the installation, you should install 2 new copper brake hose gaskets and brake hose bolt to poor brake hose plus install brake hose to caliper bolt and 2-new washers on brake caliper, then tighten up bolt bolto 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Make sure the hose is not twisted or touches any of the suspension components and install the brake hose into the bracket with the vehicle weight on the suspension. Reinstall and tighten the brake hose bolt and bracket to the Steering Knuckle and upper Control Arm with 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) and then reinstall the brake hose retaining clip. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pip fitting end and thread nut the brake pipe fitting nut to the brake hose stopping off as not to bend the bracket or pipe, then tighten the bolt to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Lastly, bleed the haridic brake system, reassemble the tire and wheel assembly, verify that the hose does not abuts any suspension or wheel pieces in radical rotations, and lower the vehicle.
