2007 GMC Sierra 1500 Classic Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 Classic?
A: To replace the hose on the front brake, firstly lift and support the vehicle; remove the tire and wheel assembly. Clean all dirt and foreign matter from the brake hose, and brake pipe, fittings and installing rubber cap or plug over the exposed brake pipe fitting to prevent fluid loss and contamination. Disengage the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose by using a back up wrench and cap or cork plug the brake pipe fitting end. Part number 7 is removed without really any challenges, it just slots off the hose mounting bracket, after that you remove the brake hose bolt and bracket from the upper Control Arm, and the Steering Knuckle. Then take off the bracket of brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper and disconnect brake hose from the brake caliper, dispose of the 2 copper brake hose gaskets. For its fitting: install 2 new copper brake hose gaskets with the brake hose bolt to the brake hose, then install the brake hose to the caliper bolt and install 2 new washers to the brake caliper and tighten the brake caliper bolt to 30 f.t. Lbs 40 nm. Make sure the hose does not twist and is not in contact with any of the suspension components and put the brake hose into the bracket with the weight on the suspension on the vehicle. Mount the brake hose bolt and bracket onto the Steering Knuckle and upper Control Arm, and tighten both bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs), then install the brake hose retaining clip. Remove the rubber cap for the exposed brake pipe fitting end and run the brake pipe fitting nut all the way to the brake hose with a back up wrench, but do not bend the bracket or pipe, and bolt tighten to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Bleed the hydraulic brake system, install the tire and wheel assembly, and make sure the hose does not hit any part of the suspension or wheel when turning hard right and left; in the event that it does, pull the hose off and address the problem before bringing the vehicle down.
