Service and repair of the Fuel Injector starts by removing the
Fuel Rail assembly together with the injector retainer clip before extracting the injector from the Fuel Rail pod. Keep the retainer clip and both injector o-ring seals (2, 4) for disposal. Caution must be exercised while working with the Fuel Injector electrical connector pins and nozzles because immersing the unit in any cleaner will risk damaging this electrical component. The presence of leaking fuel injectors leads to contamination of the engine oil. It is essential to select the correct Fuel Injector when making a replacement since the assembly bears identification markings that combine the part number with a 4-digit code showing the production month, day and year and manufacturing shift. The new injector o-ring seals (2, 4) need cleaning oil application before inserting into position with engine oil and then receiving a fresh retaining clip. The procedure ends with insertion of the Fuel Injector into the Fuel Rail pod while orienting the electrical connector towards the outside. The retainer clip should be positioned on a flange of the Fuel Rail injector socket before reinstalling the Fuel Rail assembly.
