Chevrolet Tracker Brake Shoe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake shoes on Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Vehicle maintenance begins by elevating the vehicle before you remove tires, wheels and Brake Drums while following all brake dust safety protocols. After turning the shoe hold down pins one can release the shoe hold down springs and extract them from position. The service begins with taking out the upper return spring followed by the strut and adjuster and adjuster lever and adjuster spring and strut spring and pawl lever before excerpting the lower return spring from the system as well as separating the park brake cable from the park Brake Shoe lever. Detach the brake shoes that have the park Brake Shoe lever connected and then separate both the park Brake Shoe lever along with the retainer from the Brake Shoe . Check the brake shoes together with the hardware components for replacement. All brake component metal contact points require application of lubriplate lubricant gm p/n 1050109 (Canadian P/N 5264008) or equivalent white lithium grease as part of installation operations. Secure the park Brake Shoe lever onto the Brake Shoe through the use of the retainer . The Brake Shoe must be fastened to the vehicle after both attaching the park Brake Shoe lever to the vehicle and connecting the park brake cable to the park Brake Shoe lever. Last, install the lower return spring. Install all components starting with the upper return spring followed by the strut then the adjuster and adjuster lever succeeding by the adjuster spring and strut spring along with the pawl lever. The shoe hold down springs must be installed before turning the shoe hold down pins for securing the springs. Finish the process by attaching the Brake Drum together with tire and wheel assembly and(degrees)lower the vehicle.
