    A: You must start service on brake shoes by supporting the vehicle and removing wheels and tires. The first task should be the removal of the Brake Drum. Turn the shoe hold down pins to release springs to remove shoe hold down springs. Next disconnect the upper return spring followed by the strut , adjuster , adjuster lever , adjuster spring , strut spring , and pawl lever . Next remove the lower return spring and disconnect the park brake cable from the park Brake Shoe lever. First remove the brake shoes together with the park Brake Shoe lever then separate the park Brake Shoe lever and its retainer from the Brake Shoe. Inspect the Brake Shoe components. Before fastening the Brake Shoe lever onto the Brake Shoe , apply lubriplate lubricant gm p/n 1050109 or equivalent white lithium grease on all metal contact points. After attaching the park Brake Shoe lever to the vehicle, install the brake shoes and connect the park brake cable to the lever before installing the lower return spring . The installation process continues with the upper return spring followed by the strut and adjuster and adjuster lever and adjuster spring and strut spring and pawl lever . The installation requires tightening the shoe hold down springs by rotating the shoe hold down pins. End the procedure by installing the Brake Drum along with the tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle.
