Chevrolet Tracker models on the mechanical cooling fans while the electric cooling fans are also present. Mechanical fans are connected to the water pump shaft and operate via a thermal clutch, to engage when rpm is high, thus improving efficiency by lowering noise and fuel consumption. Different from cooling fans, the electric fans employed a 12V motor which starts depending on the coolant temperature and the desired air conditioning, cooling becomes even more efficient when the vehicle is either stationary or moving at slow speed.
