To work on the parking brake cable, first let go of the parking brake and lift up and secure the car. First, loosen the nut at the equalizer to take pressure off the park brake cables and then remove the cable from the equalizer. To take the cable out of the mounting bracket on a standard cab, push the locking tabs and for an extended cab, push the locking tabs in the body mount too.
