GMC Canyon Oil Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Properly Service and Replace the Oil Filter on GMC Canyon?
A: In order to replace the engine oil and Oil Filter you will first have to remove the oil fill cap, and also raise and support the vehicle. Clean the immediate surrounding of the engine Oil Pan Drain Plug and then have an appropriate container ready where the pan should pan and then remove the Drain Plug in order for the engine oil to drain. Then, position the container under the engine Oil Filter drain deflector while ensuring the old Oil Filter seal is not left on the engine block, and remove the Oil Filter with an appropriate wrench so that oil drains into the container. Before installing the new Oil Filter, lubricate the new Oil Filter seal with clean engine oil and tighten the Oil Filter to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Wipe any oil that drips out of the drain deflector, then connect the Oil Pan Drain Plug and secure it to 26 nm (19 ft. Lbs.). Drop the vehicle onto its four wheels and pour engine oil into the crankcase of the correct type and volume and replace the oil fill cap. Start the engine and observe the oil pressure gauge at correct pressure, shut off engine and inspect Oil Filter and Drain Plug areas for leaks. Finally, take out the oil level indicator: through it, you can tell the oil level and top it up as necessary.
