  Q: How to service and repair the Exhaust Hanger on GMC Envoy?

  A: The first step to service the Exhaust Pipe/muffler hanger demands vehicle lift procedure. Remove the heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) electrical connector together with the Catalytic Converter pipe nuts that attach to the Exhaust Manifold. Discard the old exhaust seal because you should not reuse it. Start by unwinding the nuts holding the Catalytic Converter pipe to the muffler then move on to the bolt which fastens the Exhaust Hanger to the transmission mount and finally take out the transmission mount. Pull out the Catalytic Converter along with its Exhaust Hanger assembly from the car body before disconnecting the hanger from the converter component. First attach the Exhaust Hanger to the Catalytic Converter before placing the installed Catalytic Converter and Exhaust Hanger assembly into the vehicle. The bolt used to secure the Catalytic Converter pipe hanger to the transmission mount needs to be tightened to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The first step should be mounting the transmission followed by installing a new exhaust seal between the Exhaust Manifold and Catalytic Converter pipe. Use hands to evenly secure nuts against the exhaust flange before torquing them to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Complete the operation by reconnecting the h2os electrical connector then lowering the vehicle.
