    Q:
How to replace the adjustable exhaust hanger on the left side on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting to replace the adjustable Exhaust Hanger on the left side requires vehicle elevation and removal of the left rear tire assembly followed by left rear inner wheelwell housing and rear fascia. You should place a suitable jack underneath the left exhaust Tail Pipe before removing the Tail Pipe insulator. Mark the location of the frame where the Exhaust Hanger bracket lies before using a grinder to melt the rivets connecting the Exhaust Hanger to the frame. Start by gently separating the Exhaust Hanger from its frame position then strike the rivet stems gently inside the frame with either a hammer or punch. After drilling holes into the framework use a 7/16 drill bit. First, place a paper against the scribe marks on the frame to locate holes which are transferred and marked. Then position the paper straight on the new Exhaust Hanger without rotation to mark hole locations. Administer a drill operation on the Exhaust Hanger holes using a 7/16 drill bit. The new Exhaust Hanger can get attached to the frame structure with the supplied hardware and require nut and bolt tightening to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Put on the Tail Pipe insulator before removing the support from the left exhaust Tail Pipe to reinstall the rear fascia and left rear inner wheelwell housing and left rear tire assembly. Lower the vehicle by adjusting the Exhaust Hanger according to requirements.

    Q:
How to service and repair the Exhaust Hanger on GMC Envoy? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair operations for Exhaust Pipe/muffler hangers start with raising the vehicle. Start by disconnecting the heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) electrical connector before removing both nuts that hold the Catalytic Converter pipe to the Exhaust Manifold. Discard the old exhaust seal because it should not be used again. To begin the process remove the nuts holding the muffler to the Catalytic Converter pipe followed by the hanger bolt which attaches to the transmission mount then unfasten the transmission mount itself. Remove the Catalytic Converter assembly with next the Exhaust Hanger from the vehicle while separating the Exhaust Hanger from the converter. First put on the Exhaust Hanger to the Catalytic Converter before reinstalling the converter and hanger assembly into the vehicle. Begin by attaching the bolt which anchors the Catalytic Converter pipe hanger to the transmission mount, finish installation by tightening the bolt to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.), then put on the transmission mount. Use a new exhaust seal between the Exhaust Manifold and Catalytic Converter pipe before evenly applying nut torque against the exhaust flange until secure and finally tightening the nuts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Finish the repair by connecting the h2os electrical connector followed by putting the vehicle into its normal position.
