Intake manifold temperature sensor in GMC Envoy is responsible for measuring temperature of the airflow in order to maintain efficiency of the engine. All this information is sent to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which in turn changes the fuel injector timing so as to enable the correct air/fuel mixture for combustion. Various sensors could have been used in the different Envoy models depending on the model and one common sensor was the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. The calibration of the MAF sensor is adjusted to a particular settings of air flow rates and fuel injectors so that things like performance air intake systems can be installed without requiring the use of a new sensor. However, increased air flows as provided by intake and exhaust modifications may overwhelm this sensor and lead to problems in flow performance. In summary, the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor is an important component that determines whether the air and fuel are in a correct proportion that determines the efficiency of the engine and its overall performance.

GMC Envoy Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor on GMC Envoy?
    A:
To replace the mass air flow (MAF)/Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor, you will first remove the 2 screws holding the sensor to the air cleaner assembly and then take the sensor out together with disconnecting the electrical connector. Take care when installing the new maf/Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor so that no damage occurs to it, not dropping it and not touching the sensing elements, and to stay away from solvents and lubricants. A little soap-based solution can be employed to help during installation. Insert the maf/Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor into the air cleaner assembly, then fix it in place using the 2 screws, screwed down to 2.25 n.m (20 lb in), and connect the maf/Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor to the electrical connector.
