The following tools are needed to service and repair the steering wheel and column: steering wheel puller (J 1859-A). Start by turn off the sir system and the removal of the inflator module. Then, slip off the horn plunger from the steering column by pressing down to the stop and rotate 90 degrees then also disconnect the steering wheel electric connection. Remove the nut that holds the steering wheel in place on the steering wheel shaft and stamp out the steering wheel and the wheel shaft for alignment purposes in the process of fitting. It is very important to use only the specified steering wheel puller (J 1859-A) while trying to get rid of the steering wheel, because hammering on the end of the steering column shaft may loosen the plastic injections which hold down the rigidity of the steering column in place. Insert the steering wheel puller (J 1859-A) on the steering wheel and take off the steering wheel. For installation, it is required to ensure that the turn signal on the multifunction switch is in a neutral position, align the mark on the steering wheel with the Steering Shaft and install the steering wheel to the steering wheel-shaft. It is important to unfasten the base nut of the steering column and tighten the following nut to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) screw the steering wheel electrical connector, install horn plunger to the steering, column, and finally, after installing the inflator module enables the sir system.
