GMC Savana 1500 A/C Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on GMC Savana 1500?
A: The first step to replace the compressor hose assembly requires the recovery of refrigerant from the system. Begin by recovering refrigerant from the system then remove both the coolant recovery tank and the air cleaner. The hose assembly for the compressor must be removed from the accumulator followed by detachment of the auxiliary hose connection if installed at the compressor end. Remove first the compressor hose assembly from both the condenser and then unfasten the compressor hose assembly bolt from the compressor afterward extract the compressor hose assembly from the compressor. Use caps to protect opening lines against contamination and pull all equipment installed in the vehicle. Remove all connection caps and install the hose to the compressor at first. Fasten the compressor hose assembly retaining bolt onto the compressor before tightening it to 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Afterwards attach the compressor hose assembly to the condenser while tightening the a/c line to the condenser into 28 n.m (21 lb ft). The auxiliary hose connector should be installed to the compressor while applying 48 n.m (35 lb ft) of torque. Connect the compressor hose assembly to the accumulator while tightening the a/c line to the accumulator to reach 48 n.m (35 lb ft). The a/c system evacuation follows then recharging with proper equipment installation of the air cleaner accompanied by coolant recovery or surge tank placement until the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) identifies no leaks on component fittings.
