How to replace the alternator on a V8 engine on GMC Savana 1500?

You should start by taking off the negative Battery Cable before replacing the generator on a v8 engine. Now, go ahead and take off the accessory Drive Belt. First, pull the boot down on the generator cable to see the terminal stud, unthread and take off the nut from the terminal stud, and then pull off the generator cable. Take the generator bolts off and take out the generator from the bracket. Put the generator back on the bracket and fasten the bolts to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Fit the generator cable into place, tighten the nut on the terminal stud to 10 nm (89 lb in), and then put the boot over the stud. Reattach the generator plug and put the accessory Drive Belt in place again. When you are finished, connect the negative Battery Cable once more.
