How to replace the starter motor on a V8 engine on GMC Savana 1500?

Starting the repair process for a v8 Starter motor requires users to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Lift and stabilize the vehicle after which remove the right transmission cover bolt if present. Cut the power connection to the oil level sensor then unscrew the Starter mounting bolts. Start by sliding the Starter forward beyond the transmission zone. Then remove the solenoid nut before taking the Starter lead off the solenoid stud and finishing by removing the lead nut. After removing the Starter stud positive lead wire, place the Starter unit on a designated workbench. Installation of the transmission cover from the Starter requires unsnap action but Starter shields should only be removed if necessary. Installation requires a step to add the Starter shield before applying the transmission cover to the Starter when applicable. The Starter requires attachment of the positive cable to its stud followed by applying the Starter lead nut requiring a torque setting of 10 nm (89 lb in). The Starter solenoid lead requires installation onto the solenoid stud before screwing in the Starter solenoid nut until torque reaches 3.4 nm (30 lb in). Move the Starter forward until position is reached then secure it with bolts at 50 nm (37 lb ft). Secure the right transmission cover bolt at 9 nm (80 lb in) torque if your vehicle has this component. Lower the vehicle and perform the following operations: install the negative Battery Cable and connect the oil level sensor electrical connector.
